ISTQB® History
Let’s have a look at how the ISTQB® foundation started and grew into the largest certification for Software Testers.
In 1998, ISEB (Information Systems Examination Board, British) developed the first syllabus for Software Testers. The first batch of Software Testers are certified in 1998.
In 2002, ISTQB® is founded by a board of 8 members: Austria, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Sweden, Switzerland, Netherlands and UK
In 2003, the syllabus for Advanced Level is prepared and finalized.
In 2004, ISTQB® Certified Tester- Advanced Level exam was conducted.
In 2009, the number of board members increased and 100,000 certifications were done.
In 2010, the first Expert Level syllabus is released.
In 2012, Advanced Level syllabus was revised and many programs were founded which includes,

In 2014, Agile Tester Foundation Extension material was released.
In 2015, MBT (Model-based Tester), was made available to the public. 400,000 certifications were done worldwide.

ISTQB® certification are founded in the view to promote software testing value as a profession. By taking the certification, helps the testers to be efficient and effective in their career. Helps the testers to advance in their career by providing the knowledge and skills to meet their growing responsibilities. They provide the materials free of cost and by accrediting the training providers they ensure the consistent delivery of knowledge. They have founded an open international community to share the ideas, knowledge and innovations in software testing.

You can achieve training in two sections. The first is a lecture format or a classroom. ISTQB® Certification Levels
There are 3 main categories for ISTQB® certification:
Foundation Level, Advanced Level and Expert Level.
Foundation Level Exam:
Foundation Level is the basis of the ISTQB® Certified Tester Scheme. It’s relevant to software delivery practices like Waterfall, Agile and DevOps. Foundation Level is apt for anyone who is looking for practical knowledge and they can be testers, test engineers, test managers, software developers, test analysts etc.
Foundation level is also perfect for project managers, quality managers, business analysts, management consultants who require a basic understanding of Software Testing. Certified Tester Foundation Level exam training is available in all Accredited Training Providers. Classroom training, virtual and e-learning are the different options for training.
Advanced Level Exam:
Advanced Level Exam is for those who have advanced point in their careers. For those who require a deeper understanding of software testing can think about this certification like project managers, quality managers, IT directors etc. To appear for the advanced level exam the candidate should hold the Foundation Certificate also should have sufficient practical experience as per Exam Board.
Expert Level:
In Expert Level, you will be able to extend the experience and knowledge achieved in Advanced Level. For attending the Expert level, you should have passed the Foundation Level and Advanced Level Exam also at least 5 years of software testing and 2 years of industry experience in the specific expert-level topic.
